Observation of teaching and learning

In an early issue of the newsletter I mentioned that there was a variety of materials to use to assist you in the observation of teaching and learning to be found on the Support for Success website http://www.s4s.org.uk under Materials for Quality Improvement

With this in mind 3 useful sites are:

http://www.keyskills4u.com for the QIA’s

Key Skills Trainer – an online package that helps learners gain the underpinning skills required to prepare portfolio work for the 3 main key skills.

Resources available include practice tests at level 1 and 2

http://www.itembank.org.uk/index.htm
ItemBank holds a massive number of Key Skills and Skills for Life questions which can be used to recreate tests. Learners can recreate past papers to help with revision and recreating exam conditions. It also allows them to create their own papers on particular curriculum topics (or groups of

topics). The test can either be taken online on-screen there and then or it can be printed out on paper.

http://www.toolslibrary.co.uk/ for the Skills for Life Assessment tools. The tools are designed to indicate the approximate skills level of a learner up to, and including, Level 2. They form part of the Skills for Life Learning Journey, following on from the skills check and leading on to diagnostic assessment.
