Frequently Asked Questions
What are the benefits of the FrameUp Learner Management System over standard e-portfolio
systems?
Very cost effective you do not pay per learner and you can have as many learners and employers access FrameUp as
you want.
Data entered once automatically:
v
Creates the learner’s Individual Learning Plan (ILP) which is automatically
updated as the learner’s progress (e-portfolio) is
updated.
v
Updates all of FrameUp’s preset analytical reports including Success Rate, % Progress Milestone. Retention and
Achievement Reports.
v
Updates the % achievement of a qualification which and if this is part
of an apprenticeship automatically updates the learner’s %
achievement of their apprenticeship framework against their time on program and automatically assigns the
expected achievement and an appropriate ‘traffic light’ indicator.
Thus enabling you to see at a glance those learners in danger of not achieving their apprenticeship framework in
their allocated time.
You can track all of your learners on FrameUp whether they are paper or e-portfolio, therefore all your provision
is on one tracking and analysis database, making it a lot easier for you to manage your assessors as there is no
need to look at different databases to see an assessor’s complete caseload or to collect data for analysing learner
progress by assessor.
FrameUp is a network program which also includes WAM (a web access module), thus your
is
data is held on your network and accessible without using the internet.
You have the option as to whether you host WAM or whether you would like us to.
Can I use FrameUp to track learners on other streams of
funding e.g. delivery I do for other providers, full cost etc?
Yes, you can track other streams of funding on FrameUp e.g. Foundation
Learning, full cost, ESF, 14-16 school provision, training you deliver for other providers etc.
Can we customise the program to reflect the way we track our
learners’ progress?
Yes, one of FrameUp’s strengths is that you can customise the breakdown of qualifications to
reflect the way you track your learners’ progress. Customisable fields mean that reports can be generated in seconds to
reflect the way that you want to analyse your data.
How long will it take to train my staff?
We know that freeing up staff for training poses problems within an organisation therefore we have introduced a
streamlined procedure that will reduce the time required to train your staff.
The process is included in the cost of FrameUp and is as follows;
Prior to installation.
An onsite consultancy visit to agree:
o
The customisation of your version of FrameUp.
o
A training schedule, in order to ensure the that the training sessions delivered are ‘tailored’ to meet the needs
of your staff .
Customisation of the program by us as per your requirements:
o
Import the basic details of your learners and employers.
o
Preload FrameUp with your qualifications and their breakdowns for tracking.
o
Set up the fields agreed at the consultancy onsite visit.
Installation and Training
Deliver hands-on training in half day sessions to pre-defined groups depended on their job roles and
responsibilities with respect to FrameUp. e.g. assessors updating
learners’ achievements through the WAM, creating and e-portfolio, co-ordinators/team leaders running
reports.
This method of targeted training means that staff time is used effectively.
We supply hard copies of the manuals and tutorials both of which are also
available to each user through the help button in FrameUp.
Working in this way means that all staff have a basic understanding and are able to carry out the tasks required by
them after one or two sessions i.e. half to one day.
Continual support/training is available via our telephone support line with additional would Log-me-in service.
You mention preset reports but can we also produce our own reports?
Yes, data can be exported to Excel plus FrameUp has its own inbuilt Report Writer.
Can more than one user be on FrameUp at the same time?
Yes, access is controlled by user licences with each staff member having their own password.
E-portfolio systems I have looked at are all web based, I am worried that my data could get lost or if
there was a problem with the internet and I could not access my data. How would FrameUp resolve these concerns?
FrameUp is a network
program which also includes WAM (a web access module), thus your
is
data is held on your network. Therefore your data is under your
control and backed up just like your other systems and accessible via your network without an internet
connection.
What is the maximum number of learners that can be put on to
FrameUp?
2 million
I would like my staff to become familiar with FrameUp before
I introduce the IV Manager, can I purchase the add-on module at a later date?
Yes, you can.
The new inspection framework puts a lot of emphasis on how effectively a provider is narrowing any
achievement gap between groups of learners, how can FrameUp help me improve with respect to
this?
With FrameUp a learner’s achievements are tracked in small steps and holistically giving credence to the ‘traffic
light’ % progress reports against time on program, which are available at the click of a button. Running these for
different sub groups enables staff to be proactive in identifying achievement gaps between groups of learners and
therefore implement appropriate actions to reduce the gaps.
In addition with FrameUp the sub groups are customisable by you e.g. entry
levels of learners, learners from deprived areas, referring agent etc. Therefore by combining
filters you can drill down to investigate why some learners are not achieving as expected or indeed why are doing
better to share good practice.
My success rates are good however it is at a financial cost,
what would be the benefit of using FrameUp?
The ‘streamline’ nature of FrameUp will enable you to maintain and increase you success
rates in a more cost effective way . In addition The Staff Time Log
assists in calculating and analysing the true cost of assessment
and internal verification.
Monitoring my subcontractors (i.e. providers who deliver
training to my learners) is very difficult can FrameUp help?
Yes it can. FrameUp has a Subcontractor
Portal through which the subcontractor has access only to their learners. The benefits to you being:
· Subcontractors
can update the achievement of their learners and run reports for those learners just as if they were your
staff.
· You
have information available for proactive monitoring and analysis. No more waiting on a subcontractor for an update on learner progress;
reports such as % Framework and % Train to Gain achieved giving ‘traffic light’ indicators indicating whether
the subcontractor’s learners are on or below target being available at the click of a button:
The Subcontractor portal access is totally under
your control.
What equipment do we need to run
FrameUp?
The software will run on most PCs - they should have sufficient hardware to e capable of
running either Windows 2000,NT,XP,Vista or Windows
7. Disk Space required on the workstation –
approx 150MB.
I offer learner’s courses that are over and above what is
required for their Apprenticeship Framework can these be tracked on FrameUp?
Yes they can, the courses will appear on the
learner’s individual reports demonstrating ‘added value’ but will not effect their % Apprenticeship achievement.
How does FrameUp keep up with the changes imposed on
providers?
FrameUp is continually being developed to address the changes imposed on providers.
We keep up with these changes through research, through discussion and feedback from our
customers in person, at workshops and through our newsletter and bulletins, by attending courses and being part
